In this corset besides the themes of being hunted or collected I have used materials in nature that also form a protective layer in nature. I really liked using the peeling bark as a reference to the skin of the female form revealing hidden layers and also that the bark is stronger, like a kind of armour as opposed to the feather piece that seems much more vulnerable. There are many myths and legends of tree Goddesses and I like to think that in using this material gives some of these myths a reality.
Also, another aspect to this work is that they have all been made over a long period of time and reflect to some extent the changing of the seasons.
